RED Halverson "CHOKEOUT"   1/31/2018 9:33:58 AM score: 0    hide

How can a wrestler be "Choked out or Knocked out" and be allowed to finish the match. If you were there for the finals you know what I am talking about. Oh and the officiating was terrible this weekend. I saw a semi final match where the kid spent nearly the whole match on his back and the Jerome wrestler got zero near fall points. Really embarrassing.

If it is a legal hold and injury time runs out and/or the wrestler is unable to continue either by his choice or that of a coach or trainer then the match is over. I have no idea on the situation you are referring too but just in general.

If they become unconscious during a match they aren't going to be allowed to continue or I would sure hope they aren't. If the reason for becoming unconscious was due to a legal move then match over. I have seen it happen multiple times in front headlock situations. I am not trying to argue with you, I am just answering your question in general based off of what I have seen.

Kid laid down and went limp. The wrestler on top got up and the other wrestler stayed on the mat with their eyes closed. Then popped up and went back tot he middle. It was the Minico v Pocatello 132 final.

I was at this tournament and watched the finals very closely, but I can't recall Andrade being unconscious. Maybe I missed it. You are correct in there being some terrible officiating, but there was some great officiating too. I long for the day where officiating will be consistent across the board, but there will never be such a day.

Guntoter - If I recall correctly, Poky didn't compete in the finals at 132. I think it was Highland vs Minico. Overall the tourney seemed down a few teams this year when compared to the past. And I agree with what has already been posted about the officiating. I refuse to get mad about it anymore, I just accept the fact that you have to wrestle one style in Idaho to entertain the officials, and wrestle with a different attitude elsewhere in the country/world to win.

Amen to that! No wonder coaches lose it.

Also Highland is in Pocatello.
